Satoshi Nakamoto turns 48

Users of P2P Foundation forum are asked to select a date of birth when joining the forum. Someone found out a few years ago that when Satoshi joined the forum, he selected April 5, 1975 as his birthday.

What is the significance of April 5 and 1975 you may wonder.

April 5 is the day government became robber. On April 5, 1933 US President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6102 to confiscate gold by forbidding ownership of gold and requiring all persons to deliver their gold to the Federal Reserve. The Gold Reserve Act was signed by FDR on January 30, 1934 giving the President the authority to devalue the dollar, which he did the very next day.

1975 is the year US citizens were allowed to own and trade gold again, after Nixon unilaterally dissolved the existing Bretton Woods system and cancelled the convertibility of US dollar to gold in 1971, introducing the “paper standard”. Nixon said this measure was “temporary”, but he lied. 52 years later, here we are.

  1. I’ll repeat what I’ve posted before. Nakamoto is either:

    • one of the smartest humans ever to live

    • a collection of incredibly smart people

    • a literal alien

I want to believe it’s the former. I wouldn’t be at all surprised at the second. The latter seems highly improbable but not impossible.

  2. I’m just surprised ppl actually handed in their gold. Would they do so today? Like, if the gov said that ppl have to turn in gold or brc for that matter, under executive order… would ppl?
