Certain tokens displays a fee on Uniswap but not on Metamask?

Hi guys,
I'm relatively new to DeFi trading.

I noticed that certain tokens have a 4-5% fee displayed for Uniswap, but this fee does not reflect on Metamask for the same tokens [Refer to picture]

Is it actually more costly to trade these tokens on Uniswap? Or does Metamask simply not display these fees?

I appreciate the help and clarifications. Thank you!

  2. Metamask route the swap to an aggregator of multiple dexes (including uniswap) and then add a fee on top. Eventually, looks into how much you pay vs how much u would receive on both sources.

It is definitely more expensive to swap on Metamask; on the flip side, it is much more convenient to new users to do it straight from wallet UI.

  3. The token smart contract itself has a 4% buy/sell fee.

You’ll get charged this fee regardless of which wallet or protocol you use to make the swap. UniSwap wallet’s UI is better than MetaMask’s in this case, as it’s showing the token contract fees as well.
