I used to run Ledger Live without any problems on Linux Mint 19 but since I updated to 21.2 Cinammon, I cannot connect the device even though it is recognized (see screenshot).

I get similar responses when trying to use the web wallets of AVAX and Cosmostation, as well as when I try to connect to Metamask. All of them “see” the Ledger device but fail to connect. So obviously the problem is not with Ledger Live. And since it worked fine before the update, a also assume that it's not a hardware problem.
Oh, and I installed Ledger Live on a different device under Windows and the Ledger connects just fine there…
I'm probably not the only one who has this issue… any ideas how to fix it?
