A public key is simply a code that allows people to send and receive cryptocurrencies.

  1. Second slide reads that the Public Key is used to send too. Is that correct? Because in slide 4 you talk about the Private key being the one used to move your crypto (which seems correct)

  2. Oh dang I wanted to make a joke and then I realised many people are still at the beginning. Today is the day I don’t bet banned for scam attempt.

Edit: thank you for the smol tutorial, highly appreciated by everyone!

  3. This explainer is not only wrong but also pointless. If you want to condense information for normies to understand, use the terms they will actually be confronted with.

People will send money to addresses. Addresses are indeed alphanumeric as opposed to public keys. You can explain an address as something you can send money to.

For the private part, I’d stick to terms like “seed phrase” or “mnemonic”, which are the things people will also actually deal with. You can explain that the seed phrase is what allows a holder to spend coins.

Don’t try to go into cryptographic details by simplifying a lot because you’ll inevitable say entirely wrong things that will confuse people when they see those terms in other contexts.

  4. Very helpful, note that the public key is derived from the private key. It’s impossible to guess the private key from the public, they have a mathematical relationship but that relationship only goes one way. Consequently, these are called one-way functions.

  5. these are the worst descriptions i’ve ever seen. Please downvote this to obscurity. these are WRONG
