Yep you heard heard that right! How that was possible, and how you could do it too, I’ll tell you right here… before my enemies catch me. When I saw this Billboard back in November that said: Buy this Crypto Punk before a certain Football team does it, or something like that, I was wondering what all that hype around these simple 8 bit faces, that look like any 5 year old could have came up with, actually was. Ok but what actually is a crypto punk: Crypto Punks are part of an NFT collection that lives on the Etherium Blockchain. The crazy thing is, that these 10,000 Punks were released back in 2017 by Larva Lab Studio. While Larva Lab studio sounds like a big company especially when you think about the amounts those punks get traded nowadays. It was actually just 2 dudes named John and Matt that created one of the most important projects in the NFT and Crypto history. They were one of the very first NFT projects ever and it was inspired by the London Punk scene, the cyberpunk movement and elegantly also Daft Punk. One of those Punks sold in October 2021 for 124.457 ETH which was about 532 million dollars back then. This is one of the highest transactions for digital art or art in general! Ok but who bought Crypto Punk number 9998 for that insane price? It was actually the one who already owned it. He bought it from himself using a flash loan, meaning he borrowed the money from someone else, bought the punk from himself and then directly paid back the loan with a single transaction. Why? No Idea but he now kinda owns the most expensive Punk ever, I guess? Until now the real most expensive Punk ever bought was CryptoPunk number 7523, this one, which was sold for 11,8 million dollars back in 2021.
